Spells and Powers of the Mermaid Race
There are many spells out there concerning mermaids, but most of them are fake and just for attention. We have compiled a list of spells that we think have a higher chance of being genuine than others.
When I say certain spells don't work, I don't discredit magick. In fact, I you should be willing to involve yourself spiritually with sea magick. HOWEVER, I think that a spell that you are going to use to turn you into something that is humanoid is going to have to be carefully planned, infused with a lot of your own energy, and you are going to need an offering of some kind. For example, you can make up any old rhyme spell in a matter of 30 seconds. See?
Mermaid to be, mermaid of the sea,
I see, come to me.
Water spirits I beg, water spirits I plead,
Make this of me.
A mermaid I will be, beautiful tail,
so mote it be. (Example taken off Siren's Cove.)
That was a type of spell that won't work, sorry.
For one thing, what this spell is going to do, is it's going to aid your DNA and your entire essence into becoming a mermaid. BUT we all know that you will not turn into a mermaid by simply touching water. So how does it happen? WELL my friends, this is where shifting comes in. Of course the M-shift is always important, and I find that spells HELP your M-shift. But now that you've done your spell, your body is charmed, the magick is flowing within you and the gods have heard your call. So now what?
The spell gives you the ability to shift. It gives you the ability to transform. And THAT'S where P-shifting comes in. You have to gradually learn how to shift. You didn't think it was going to be that easy did you? You picture your F-shift while you P-shift after mastering your M-shift and viola! The spells give you the ability to do so. However, shifting CAN be done without spells, it just takes longer. So for the people that are against spells for whatever reason whether it be religious, or you don't have the materials, then you can just shift.
First of all, I recommend that you actually learn spellwork before casting a spell. Spells are sort of like prayers, only they use your own energy to manifest things. Which is why belief is so important, AND your own will! However, it is a good idea to invoke a Sea Diety in your spells, for extra help. "I like to use Aphrodite (My Matron Goddess, who is a Greek diety for mermaids) and Liban (Celtic Goddess of the sirens). Find an offering to them, it can be a candle, insence, or food. (You can also use blood but a lot of people would advise against that! ). I also like to incorporate things like "I vow to protect the sea" as a bit of a personal thing." -Jessii, Siren's Cove Poster
You will also need to pick a location for your spell. Now I REALLY hate spells that are done in bathtubs. Mostly because it just irritates me how claustrophobic I feel. I need a huge space when I cast my spells which is why I usually cast them outside. But it's really cold up here in Michigan right now, so I can't go outside, especially not swimming. If you have access to a beach (by your home, or on a near vacation) I would advise using those. Beach spells are most effective. If you HAVE to, then use the bathtub, but try to adorn your bathroom with shells, ocean music, insence, and candles, to give it a bit of a sea ambiance.
Now onto the writing portion, this is the bit we discussed earlier. For this part of the spell, I would really try not to focus on the rhyming, more as what you are saying. Spells that come from the heart mean more. Also, although Latin is the language of magick in many cases, I find that a spell said in your native tongue means more, because you can understand it and feel the energy as you are saying the words. And try not to ask for "The tail the color of ____ and powers like _____ from H2O" because that's not very personal.
Ritual wise, you may want to cast a circle before hand, and use shells to represent each point of the star. And you should invoke a god/ess before doing the spell. There should be some sort of symbolic process such as pouring sea water on yourself, or drinking a potion, or meditating. A good spell lasts anywhere from 15 min to an hour or two to cast. I will work on writing some spells to share to those I think can handle them.
Although this first spell will contradict what i just said, reliable sources have whispers of it working, so why not try? I really hate bathtub spells, again, but with the right circumstances and properties, with time and practice, this spell could help your inner mermaid develop faster.
You Will Need: your own tears, your hair, water, sea salt, 3 seashells, the moon (preferably waxing, full, or new.)
Step 1: Set aside the biggest seashell and put the other two into the water. If you are in the bath, then you will mix the sea salt into the water. If you are using the ocean, make sure that you are in a calm area so the shells don't get washed away by the tide.
Step 2: Place a strand of your hair into the water and swirl the water around 3 times clockwise with your finger, while infusing your own energy into it both by your hair and by your finger. Say,
"Spirits and beings of the sea,
hear my cry, listen to my plea,
A mermaid/siren,
creature of the moon, of mystery,
Make this of me,
I no longer want humanity.
Step 3: Take the biggest seashell. Envision your life in the sea and imagine how much you want it and cry for it. Let your tears drip into the large shell. This is the hardest part.
Step 4: Say,
"Goddesses of the ocean,
Great Mothers of the Sea,
listen now, heed my wish,
i want to be a mermaid,
top of human, tail of fish.
I will sacrifice my tears,
i no longer have any fears"
Over the shell, then gently place it into the water. It is very important that you do this gently and with great care.
Step 5: Swirl the water again with your finger, clockwise, once again infusing your own energy within it.
Step 6: Say,
"Spirits and beings of the sea,
I am a mermaid, creature of the moon,
of the sea, and of mystery, now and forever.
BY THE POWER OF THREE MOTE IT BE"
Step 7: If you are not already sitting in the water, place your hands into it. Feel the water surrounding your skin. Feel the water pulsating against your body. And imagine all that energy soaking into your skin, through your toes, and up to your head, completing the transformation. This will now turn you into a mermaid, and enable your shifts.
Here are a few videos from the channel MermaidsCorner on Youtube about alternate transformations- NO SPELL NEEDED!

Mira again ;-). Here are a few spells Aimee wants to try out. She wanted me to post them. Don't really have a lot of hope. But it's your decision.
Insouciant inclemency
Redoubtable meritocracy
Refutable humanity
Make me what i wish to be
A MERMAID
witches on and witches all
give this power to me
Repeat that 10 times
whatever you do, DO NOT SAY THIS WHILE DRY!!!!
you do not have to be in the bath, shower, pool,or ocean while saying this. Some part of you just has to be touching water. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO SAY THIS ON A FULL MOON. Just don't look at it or you will regret looking at it (after saying the spell)
After saying this spell, you will probably have side effect(s)
-legs changing color/getting itchy, tingly or achy
-nausea (maybe vomiting)
-fatigue
-difficulty breathing
-coughing fits when in water
-being able to breathe in water/hold your breath longer
-random anger
-scales appearing on your skin
-gills appearing on your neck or under your armpits
-legs sticking together or wanting to stay together
-legs crossing by themselves
-constant thirst after drinking lots of fluid
-headaches
-wanting to touch or be in water
REMEMBER: SIDE EFFECTS ARE NOT COMPLETELY NECESSARY, ITS JUST THAT MOST PEOPLE HAVE THEM.
Sometimes side effects don't happen until 2 weeks after saying the spell. Tail colors vary, and you do not decide what color your tail will be. It takes about a month to six weeks for your tail to fully develop. You do not get to choose your power. Powers I've heard of are the h2o powers (heating water, freezing water, or shaping water), psychic powers, and telekinesis. The power may take up to 2 months to develop.
For this spell to work you need to have a symbol; something that is special to you and is on your upper part of your body so it will be visible when you grow a tail. it can be a necklace, a bracelet, a ring, your hair, your eyes, etc. You cannot take it off for more than two hours at a time or you will lose your power and tail or the spell won't work. You also have to believe the spell will work or else it might not.
XD Sounds fishy right? Well then. Read the article above for spell work info.

DIY Mermaid Sea Salt Scrub Below.
Mermaid Powers
Hydrokinesis is one of the most wanted powers. It is easy compared to others and hard also. On the scale it's smack dab in the middle, and very hard to stay focused since you will get easily excited, which will make your concentration flow away. There are a few things you can do to practice, exercises that will develop your powers.
Exercise #1- Toothpick & Bowl (Beginner)
This exercise is for the beginners of the beginners, the ones who are still trying to find out how to start. It's quite simple and easy to practice, but completing the wanted task might not be a walk in the park.
You need a small bowl filled with water and a toothpick. Put the bowl of water on a table and set the toothpick in the water, making sure the water is completely still and the toothpick is floating before sitting down in a chair 3 feet away.
Focus on the water. Feel it's energy overcoming you, feel it like it is your blood, the very thing keeping you alive, then focus on the bowl again. Try to feel the water, the energy of yourself and the energy of the water. Imagine your energy and the water's energy combining, the water waking fro it's still state and moving. After as long as you wish of doing this, stop.
Do this as many times a day as you want. The more often you practice, the sooner you will be able to move on to more complicated exercises.
Exercise #2- Water Blood (Beginner)
This is also a beginner exercise.
Remember I was telling you about the water being your blood? That's where this is going. Except this time there's no bowl of water and no toothpick. Just imagine your blood being water, flowing throughout yourself, clearing out blockages and giving your body life. Do this for as long as you like. when you are done, just stop. Do this whenever you wish. It helps to connect you with the water.
TIP: Sometimes when you feel bored, you want something to focus on, right? Well, if you are in the waiting room for a doctor or enduring a lecture in Math, try to fell the water coursing throughout you. If you do this frequently enough, soon you will do it without even noticing. It will feel normal and you will always have the thought of water instead of blood in your system.
Exercise #3- Whirlpools (Intermediate)
This is NOT a beginner exercise. If you have not already mastered currents, do that. Comfortably sit down on the floor or in a chair. Make sure you have no distractions- noise, TV, computer, phones, animals, or tasks needing to be done soon.
Think back to (beginner) Exercise #1, where you were trying to move the water. That is a simplified version of this. While there, you were trying to move currents, now you are going to try to make a whirlpool.
Feel the water coursing through your body. Feel it going about doing it's job- cycling through your veins, clearing out blockages, delivering oxygen to all of the different parts of your body. Then focus and try to make a whirlpool. Try to make a downward spiraling current. If you are lucky you'll get a mini-whirlpool. It may not work right away but keep trying!
Exercise #4- Current Control (Advanced)
Before even reading this one you should master the other exercises. They are the base for what we do now. Make sure you can do them easily and with your eyes closed, hands tied behind your back, and simultaneously falling off of the tallest building ever built. Do you understand the fact you need to 100% master the others or this will be useless?
Okay, good.
So, for this exercise you will need to be by a water source- and I'm not talking about the kitchen sink. You need to be by a NATURAL body of water, so no moats, canals, or man-made lakes. Good. So. Sit down by the bank/shore/coast/sand. Feel the water coursing throughout you, feel yourself becoming one with the currents, rushing down the rocks and carrying creatures to their homes. Feel the water all around you, coursing through your soul and mind. Feel the slow (or fast) moving water.
Try to move the current itself. Use your energy to move or push the waves or currents.
For this technique it is very helpful to use your hands.
Cryokinesis is also a very popular power, but it requires a preparation period. Here is a guide on how to prepare for the responsibility of this power.
Your body needs to be in the right condition in order to be able to safely perform cryokinesis, for if one is properly conditioned, he/she is immune to the effects of ice.
Start out by Taking a piece of ice and holding it in both your hands. Keep your fist clenched around the ice, and don't let go, no matter how much it hurts. Time yourself for one minute. After a minute, you may release the ice cube. Do this five times a day. After a week, extend the time to two minutes. After another week, extend it to three minutes. Then after a month, keep the ice cube in your hand until it melts. Make sure you condition both hands equally. During this two month period, also begin taking cold baths. Lower the temperature of the water, every week that you extend the time you hold on to the ice cube. After this training period of about two months, you body should be conditioned to withstand hostile temperatures. You can only manipulate ice as much as your body can handle.
Also a way to get Cryokinesis is if you put your fingers in freezing cold water for as long as the exercise above. Keep your hands in the water for one minute then take them out. Just like the one above but with water, it's basically the same thing. You can just get a cup or something you can fit one or both your hands in and leave it in the freezer for a while taking it out before it freezes. You can put one hand in at a time then the other or both, doesn't really matter. This is an alternative method to holding ice cubes since freezing water and ice is essentially the same thing. It tends to make your hands feel frigid afterwards so whatever tickles your fancy.
Techs:
Changing Temperature:This technique is one of the more common methods utilized through Cryokinesis. Using Cryokinesis to change the temperature of a specific area to make it colder.
Meditation is always a recommendation before starting any technique or ability.
Now, enter the area in which you wish to alter the temperature of. Stand comfortably in the area and relax yourself. We must visualize the room or area getting cold and frigid. Close your eyes, and begin to feel as if the temperature in the room was slowly beginning to drop. Visualize the room. As you feel the temperature dropping, imagine snow falling and swirling around your surroundings, and the formation of icicles gradually developing off of ceilings, high edges and objects around you where possible. We must really get into this. Actually try to feel your body becoming colder. If you are in an area that has a thermostat, it will greatly improve your sense of temperature in your location. Visualize the thermostat dropping the cooler you feel. It also helps envisioning ice forming around the room, all over everything, depicting a sense of the frigid environment we are creating. Take your time in creating the blizzard like area, and slowly feel these subtle changes as if they really are happening around you. And just adding on you could imagine your energy coming out and making the room colder whilst this is happening. For some people they like to imagine a reason why these things are happening.
Now don't get discouraged, this technique will not actually create a winter wonderland at your location off the bat, and with practice may only drop the temperature a few Celsius/Fahrenheit early on. It might not even change the temperature at all depending on your experience, but like will all abilities and techniques, will require patience and practice to improve. With time, dedication and practice, you will be able to drastically alter the temperature of an area whenever you desire.
Check out the Visualization page if you are having a difficult time creating the changes in your area.
Cryokinesis meditation: This is an alternate way to get used to the cold. Find a cold place to meditate for 10 minutes and begin by closing your eyes and visualize ice gradually covering your skin at frigid temperatures, and that your skin is slowly becoming frozen solid, consistently cooling down from the ice hardening all around your body. Then visualize the coldness flowing internally throughout your entire body as you feel yourself begin to feel more cold. Once you are done meditating, the coolness of the environment should feel much warmer then before you began.
(Psi)Ice Ball: This is the other common cryokinesis technique that you will see a lot, and is great for training. There are many ways of doing this.
Method 1
Get into the stance that you use when you normally make a psi ball. Now, visualize cultivated water energy running all over, through and in between your hands; as if you were running them under a faucet. Now, visualize the water energy freezing over, try to feel the stinging chill of the ice as the water freezes. Picture it freezing little by little, and compressing it into a ball of freezing cold energy between your palms. Do this until you feel confident that you've successfully created the ice ball, and check if you feel any chill between your hands.
Don't worry, all these exercises take time and practice, so you might not get it on the first day. Practice this every day, until you can do it. To test this, you can try throwing the ice ball at a candle or some kind of small flame like that, or a warm glass of water seeing if you can drop the temperature dramatically. And again, don't worry if nothing happens the first few times. Just remember, when throwing the ice ball, just like any other energy ball, you must be in complete concentration and focus, so that the ball does not simply disperse into the air.
Method 2
First of all cup your hands. Visualise energy traveling down from your kundalini, down your arms. Stay calm and peaceful so you can focus and you bring the energy to your hands. Visualise water coming out your hands, cold chilly water is best. Slowly visualise it filling your cupped hands and then slowly freezing over. Be patiant none of this is quick at all. Then visualise it slowly sculpting into a ball shape. If it works your hands should feel colder than they were before.
Ice Breath: Visualize your entire body taking in the ice energy used to create an Ice Ball. You will basically be utilizing the Changing Temperature technique to create this effect. Visualize your lungs taking in a separate more frigid ice energy than your body. When you breathe out imagine a blizzard like gust of air expelling from your mouth with your breath to create a cold, icy breath.
Frozen Wind: To improve upon this training, you will have to be alone for great periods of time. Stand in a deserted warehouse or field and spread out your arms. Palms facing upwards, take deep breathes. Feel the air around you and whisper "Frostbite" in your mind continuously, moving our body to the wind's movements. Using the Changing Temperature exercise, cool the wind until you can fully feel the wind inside your grasp. Focus upon the winds movement and slowly manipulate it until it comes close to you. Then push it away from you in whatever direction you want it to. After a while, you will be able to cool the wind and manipulate it without grabbing it first.
Making Water Even Colder: I give this training skill's credit to eternity team.com/cryokinesis. Get a glass of warm water, and try to make the water colder by visualizing the outside of it being covered in ice in every second, then visualize the glass starting to freeze to the point where the glass starts to crack and the water gets colder and colder. This will take time and failure, but if you keep doing it, then you will see results in cryokinesis.
Next, a video or two in case you need vocal stimulation. (Skip to 0:20)
